Orlando, Florida is considered to be one of the world's biggest tourist destinations. This is largely due to the nearby theme parks and resorts nearby. Orlando has the second largest number of hotel rooms in the country, second only to Las Vegas. Walt Disney World Resort, located in Lake Buena Vista is Orlando’s biggest draw. The Resort consists of four theme parks, including the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, two water parks and much more. Sea World and Universal Orlando Resort are also very popular.
Orlando has very few gay and lesbian hotels, guesthouses, inn or resorts to choose from. However there are plenty of gay friendly hotels, guesthouses, inns and resorts at a range of rates and amenities to meet the needs of the most discerning gay and lesbian traveler.
Downtown Orlando is a growing area, centered around Orange Avenue. It is packed with restaurants, dance clubs, bars, museums, musical theatre, and even offers opera. Cocoa, New Smyrna, and Daytona beaches are about an hour's drive from Orlando. There are plenty of excellent world class golf courses in the area, and you can generally play for less after 1.00 pm.
Gay-friendly bars, clubs and stores like The Parliament House, Pulse, Lava Lounge and Mojo Books are scattered throughout the city. Gay Days, which are a series of parties, performances and gatherings throughout the city around the first week of June, the highlight for many being trips en masse to the local theme parks.
So, whether you are looking for relaxation, fun and excitement, Orlando, Florida offers it all for the gay and lesbian traveler.
