Bath, Maine

Bath, Maine, USA.
Gay and Lesbian Hotels, Inns and Guest Houses - Reviews and Ratings. Gay and Lesbian Travel.

Nestled along the sparkling Kennebec River in Maine is a small jewel of a city, Bath. An old seafaring town, Bath is ideally sited for water access at the head of two peninsulas. At the mouth of the Kennebec, historic Fort Popham stands guard. Nearby, Popham Beach and Reid State Park in Georgetown offer miles of sandy beach and rocky cliffs. And there are plenty of cultural treasures to be found in Bath's Maine Maritime Museum, the Chocolate Church Performing Arts Center and the Studio Theatre of Bath. One of the best times to visit is during the fall foliage season when the countryside colors are truly amazing.

Bath has a good selection of gay friendly hotels, inns and guesthouses for the gay and lesbian traveler with a range of rates and amenities to suite most budgets and tastes.

After your stay, post a review of your accommodation experience on Pink Choice for the benefit of other gay and lesbian travelers.

And there is a great variety of restaurants, cafés and casual dining establishments to choose from too. Whether it is a casual lobster feast, fine dining or a bowl of homemade soup, everyone’s taste can be satisfied.

The tree-lined avenues in town are graced by handsome old ship captain's mansions. Downtown, shops and restaurants line Front Street on the Kennebec. The 19th century brick buildings and narrow streets have the charm of a by-gone age.

For great bird watching and walking trails, head to Josephine Newman Wildlife Sanctuary, Bates College’s Morse Mountain Conservation Area, Hamilton Sanctuary, Montsweag Preserve or Butler’s Head Sanctuary. And keep an eye out for the eagles and osprey on the Kennebec River!

For the lovers of history, stroll the quaint downtown area of Bath – recently designated one of a Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the United States by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Take a guided walking tour of the Bath historic district or ride the Bath Trolley for a tour of Bath and the Historic District.

Downtown Bath is filled with a variety of independently owned shops and galleries selling antiques, art, books, chocolates, clothing, crafts, fiber art, furniture, gifts, groceries, hardware, jewelry, kitchen supplies, marine supplies, photography gear, pottery, quilting materials, wines and yarn. And between May and October, enjoy the Bath Farmers Market is every Thursday and Saturday at the Waterfront Park.

So whether you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway or a longer vacation destination, Bath, Maine has plenty to offer the gay and lesbian traveler.
