Gay Dalyan

Dalyan,
Turkey

Dalyan, Turkey.
Gay and Lesbian Hotels, Inns and Guest Houses - Reviews and Ratings. Gay and Lesbian Travel.

Located a few miles inland on the edge of the river delta, Dalyan, Turkey is a sleepy little town just a half hour transfer from Dalaman International Airport. As a vacation destination, Dalyan is quite charming. There are no high-rise developments and even in high season, families with kids tend to be local Turks rather than tourists.

Dalyan has limited gay and lesbian hotels, guesthouses and apartments. There are however several gay friendly hotels, guesthouses, villas and apartments offering a range of prices and amenities for the most discerning gay and lesbian traveler.

The mainly expatriate European and American gay scene in Dalyan is very restrained. This reflects the Muslim sensitivities of the locals but it is never-the-less great fun. Dalyan has several small discos and clubs which are gay friendly.

Turkish cuisine rates as one of the best in the world and many water front cafés and restaurants specialize in particular dishes. If you fancy a snack, consider a tasty Turkish pizza (pide) or a börek, a wafer thin, flaky pastry with a meat or cheese filling. One of the delights of Turkish meals are the meze or starters, which are served hot or cold and come in an astonishing variety. Dalyan has a great choice in restaurants each offering a wide selection of both Turkish and International dishes at reasonable prices.

You'll find plenty to do here: trekking, jeep safaris, white water rafting, mountain biking, sea kayaking, horseback riding….the list is endless. Don't miss the chance of a Turkish massage or a wallow in the famous mud baths and thermal springs where it is told, Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt used to regularly frequent.

The Iztuzu Beach, a short bus or boat ride away, is one of the best in turkey. At each end, there are cafés, changing facilities and beach loungers with sun-shades but the more central section is virtually deserted, except for the famous sea turtles that come out at night to mate and lay their eggs. It is said there is no beach like Ýztuzu with one side being fresh water and the other side Mediterranean, with golden soft sands and crystal-clear water.

Turkey is not a clothing optional destination and nudism and extreme dress are frowned upon.
Nevertheless, there are stretches of the beach which are virtually deserted for those who want to get an all over tan.

One of the great treats of a trip to Turkey is to go on a shopping spree. Hand painted ceramics, silk or wool carpets, intricate silver trinkets, crafted backgammon sets, leather jackets, bags and shoes, onyx and gold are beautifully made and the prices are irresistible. And don't be afraid to haggle, it's expected and it all adds to the fun. Just don’t try it when you return home.

So, whether you are looking for relaxation, sun and sea, history, culture, great ethnic food or unique culture, Dalyan, Turkey is a great destination for the gay and lesbian traveler.
