Gay La Paz

La Paz, Baja California

La Paz, Baya California, Mexico.
Gay and Lesbian Hotels, Inns and Guest Houses - Reviews and Ratings. Gay and Lesbian Travel.

For the gay and lesbian traveler to escape to La Paz, Mexico is to experience a vacation that truly tantalizes the senses. Stroll along the waterfront and enjoy a romantic sunset. Indulge in delicious local cuisine and dance until the wee hours. Explore historic museums or shop for authentic Mexican arts and crafts. Experience legendary sports fishing for marlin, wahoo, tuna, dorado and more. Snorkel with playful sea lions or scuba dive with hammerhead sharks and giant mantas. Kayak alongside friendly dolphins and whales or venture into the tranquil bays of Espiritu Santo Island. Discover ancient cave paintings in distant canyons. Or just relax and do nothing at all on an endless white sand beach.

La Paz offers a good choice in gay and gay friendly hotels, inns and guesthouses for the gay and lesbian traveler. Prices and amenities offered range from budget to luxurious so there is plenty of choice for even the most discerning gay and lesbian traveler.

Although La Paz sprawls well inland from the seaside boulevard of Alvaro Obregón, most gay and lesbian travelers spend most of their time in the older, more congenial downtown section within a few blocks of the waterfront. The main plaza, Plaza Pública, centers on an iron bandstand where public concerts frequently take place in the evening and the square is dotted with the bronze sculptures of Guadalajara artist Alejandro Colunga.

It’s easy to get around La Paz on foot. Public buses go to some of the beaches north of town, but to explore the many beaches within 50 miles of La Paz, it’s best to rent a car or hire a taxi.

February features the biggest and best Mardi Gras in Baja, as well as a month-long ‘Festival of the Gray Whale’, which also starts in February. On May 3, ‘La Fiesta de La Paz’ celebrates the city's founding by Cortez in 1535 and features art exhibitions from all over southern Baja. The annual marlin-fishing tournament is in August, with other fishing tournaments in September and November.

For gay and lesbian travelers, La Paz combines the unselfconscious bustle of a small capital port city with beautiful, isolated beaches not far from town. Well on its way to becoming the undisputed adventure-tourism capital of Baja, it's the starting point for whale-watching, diving, sea kayaking, climbing, free diving, and hiking tours throughout the peninsula.

So, for a destination offering the best of two worlds, La Paz, Mexico has much to offer the gay and lesbian traveler.
