Gay Baltimore

Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
Gay and Lesbian Hotels, Inns and Guest Houses - Reviews and Ratings. Gay and Lesbian Travel.

Baltimore, Maryland, founded in 1729, was one a major shipping and industrial city. Today, it’s economic focus is on the service sector. Historically a working-class port town, Baltimore, sometimes dubbed a "city of neighborhoods," because of the more than 300 identified districts traditionally occupied by distinct ethnic groups. There are three downtown areas along the port: the Inner Harbor, frequented by tourists due to its hotels, shops, and museums; Fells Point, once a favorite entertainment spot for sailors but now refurbished and gentrified; and Little Italy, located between the other two, where Baltimore's Italian-American community was based. Further inland, Mt. Vernon is the traditional center of cultural and artistic life of the city; it is home to a distinctive Washington Monument, set atop a hill in a 19th century urban square, that predates the more well-known monument in Washington, D.C. by several decades.

Baltimore has several gay and gay friendly hotels, inns and guesthouses for the gay and lesbian traveler to choose from. Rates and amenities offered vary from budget to deluxe so there is plenty of choice depending on individual budgets and tastes of the gay and lesbian traveler.

Baltimore is a great place to visit any time of the year. Gay and lesbian travelers can explore Baltimore’s famous museums, the Baltimore Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum or The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History. Baltimore also has a very rich cultural history and by touring a historic site like Fort McHenry - home of the National Anthem - you will gain a new perspective of Baltimore.

If Baltimoreans are famous for anything, it's their talent for enjoying life to the fullest. How else can you explain the region's number of fabulous restaurants, with an astonishing array of cuisines from haute to howdy, plus every ethnic menu you can think of. Topping it all off is our own world-famous Chesapeake Bay cuisine, and it doesn't get any better than that.

And for gay and lesbian sports lovers, there are the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens to enjoy. And for those interested in being more than a spectator, you can golf, climb, jog, walk, skate, and of course, sail your way through Baltimore. Discover traditions such as jousting, Maryland's official state sport, or duckpin bowling.

So, for the gay and lesbian traveler looking for a destination filled with history, architecture, excellent restaurants, bars and clubs, great sport and outdoor activities, the Baltimore, Maryland has plenty to offer.
