Gay Reno

Reno, Nevada

Reno, Nevada, USA.
Gay and Lesbian Hotels, Inns and Guest Houses - Reviews and Ratings. Gay and Lesbian Travel.

Reno, Nevada is the largest city in Northern Nevada. It is located in the southern part of Washoe County, nestled on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in an area called the Truckee Meadows. The Truckee Meadows and surrounding area provide unlimited indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Spectacular Lake Tahoe and the largest concentration of ski areas and ski facilities in the world are all within a fifty-mile radius. Biking, camping, hunting, fishing and mountain climbing are all activities Reno residents and visitors enjoy.

Accommodation for the gay and lesbian traveler is plentiful and of a range to suite all budgets and tastes. Although there are no specifically gay or lesbian hotels, inns, guesthouses or bed and breakfast accommodations in Reno, “gay friendly” seems to be the term adopted by most hotels, inns, guesthouses and bed and breakfast accommodations.

Once the gambling capital of the United States, over the twenty years the number of casino’s has reduced considerably. Several large hotel casinos, like the Grand Sierra Resort, Atlantis and Peppermill have shown significant growth and have moved gaming further away from down town Reno. In an effort to bring more tourism to the area, Reno holds several highly successful events
throughout the year. The Hot August Nights (a classic car convention), Street Vibrations (a motorcycle fan gathering and rally), The Great Reno Balloon Race, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, a “Cinco de Mayo” celebration, bowling tournaments, held in the National Bowling Stadium, and the Reno Air Races are just a few.

The club and bar scene is vibrant and fun. Carl’s Pub, 1009 Club, Tronix and Visions attract a gay, lesbian and mixed crowd. The 5 Star Saloon and The Quest attract mainly gay men.

Reno/Tahoe International Airport is located approximately two miles from Downtown Reno, and is serviced by most of the major airlines. At the Reno/Tahoe International Airport, the City of Reno operates a Regional Welcome Center. The Welcome Center gives visitors the latest information on the City of Reno, special events and activities, accommodations, sports activities, historic sites and destinations.

The other benefit of Reno is its proximity to Lake Tahoe and all that this popular destination has to offer.

So if you’re looking for a little fun, excitement, great food and a chance to try your luck in one of the casino’s then Reno, Nevada has a lot to offer the gay and lesbian traveler.
