Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica offers fabulous attractions and fun gay nightlife
Stayed a week in this part of Costa Rica and had a wondeful time. Inexpensive, and easily accessible. I recommend flying into the Capital City in San Juan and immediately catching a flight to Quepos, the main city next to Manuel Antonio. Avoid renting a car it is not necessary, expensive and take up a lot of your time. Once you arrive you will have access to the most amazing views of Manuel Antonio situated on a series of hills and coves that offer fabulous views in any direction.
Manuel Antonio has several great hotels for any budget. As well as a strong vacation rental market. I recommend investigating Mariposa for its luxurious inifinity swimming pools and views. Or check of the Byblos Jungle Bungalows!
Dining presents a challenge! How do you decide where to eat. Must Eat Restaurants, Barba Roja (fabulous sunset views and food), El Avion (dine inside a real airplane), Gaia (elegant and serene atmosphere in a nature perseve), Kapi Kapi (highly recommended!) You can eat exquisite meals very inexpensively. Anything with seafood and tropical fruit is a sure bet for success!
Attractions present the equal challenge, you will want to try everything! Obviously you have to do a zipline tour, let your hotel reserve your trip as they will send you to the best tour available. The national park is a must see as well. It is well worth booking a private guide from your hotel instead of doing a group tour at the park, you will see much more this way! Avoid highering a guide outside of the park as you will not be sure of the quality you will receive. Horseback riding on the beach or white water rafting is another excellent option. Snorkling when the conditions are favorable can be amazing. Your hotel will likely send you to the same beach as us. There is a gentlmen there who will guide you to the spot with the best aquatic life. Another man on the beach will guard your belongings and keep it safe. Tipping him would be nice gesture as there can be thieves who take advantage of the tourists.
Save time for the beach life, you will experience colossal rock formations on the pristine beaches that have rainforest creeping right up to the water. Let the ocean and jungle be your soundtrack for a relaxing day. Take caution on the beach, the water can be dangerous with rip tides frequently reported. Scheduling a surf lesson can also be a fun! There are so many beaches to pick from, I recommend trying the elusive nude beach. While nude sunbathing is not exactly permitted because of the addition of a new hotel, this is the best beach by far! You may have to climb over a rocky trail to access it (only during low tide). Otherwise the beach on the otherside is a great spot to chill. if you want something more authentic and local go to the down manuel antonio beach by the park. I definitely recommend exploring the trails in the park alone after your tour you can find some really private and intimate beaches! Amazing! If you have any questions on this fabulous, exotic and gay place reply to this theard and I can try to help!
