On June 3, 2009, New Hampshire became the 6th state to legalize same-sex marriage. The new law will go into effect on January 1, 2010. Until then, NH Civil Unions will continue to be available. CUs that are performed before January 1, 2010, will be automatically changed to marriages. CUs will not be performed in NH after the marriage equality legislation goes into effect on January 1.

Women who are interested in getting legally married may like to know that there is no requirement, either for marriages or civil unions, that you must be New Hampshire residents or that you plan to become NH residents. The marriage license application procedures for same-sex marriages will be the same as those for heterosexual marriages.

The Highlands Inn in Bethlehem, NH, is one of very few inns or resorts dedicated to serving the lesbian community. The Inn, known as Lesbian Paradise, hosted its first commitment ceremony in 1985. Since then, hundreds of couples have held civil union and commitment ceremonies at the Inn.

With so many years of experience, the Highands is uniquely prepared to help women have a perfect NH wedding! See www.highlandsinn-nh.com or call 1-877-LES-B-INN to get a copy of the Highlands' Wedding Info sheet or to learn about their Wedding Package.
