When we were in Ptown, we got talking to a a group of guys from the UK and they said that Barcelona and Sitges were great places to visit a couple of gay guys. Does anyone else agree? If so, any suggestions about where best to stay (reasonable price) and things we shouldn't miss. We're planning to visit in September this year.

You should definitely check out the Axel Hotel in Barcelona. Axel has gay hotels on Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and recently opened a new hotel in Berlin. The company markets itself as 'Hetero- friendly' which is kind of neat. Pink Choice has a couple of reviews for the Axel in Barcelona which you can see on their Pink Choice listing.

Sitges is DEFINITELY the place for a couple of gay guys. It is probably the gayest place I've visited!! Not only that, it is beautiful and very authentic. I've visited 3 times and never been disappointed.
Barcelona is also very gay friendly. You must not visit Barcelona without a trip to Sitges. Have fun!!

Barcelona and Sitges are a must for a couple of gay guys. I love Barcelona. The best area I found was the Eixample area where there's everything for every taste, and I mean every taste. Metro is a great cruisy club and runs from 1 - 6am. Also check out Ciutat Vella and Garcia. The best beach I found was La Marbella - gay, mixed and officially nude. Sitges is fantastic so make sure you plan enough time to enjoy both.

I reassure all the comments. Catalunya in general is the best destination for gays, couples or not. It has everything you can imagine. The best discos, beaches, pubs… and, of course, the best people!!! As you can see, I love it! I am not from there, I live next to Costa Dorada and I am going to buy an apartment there with my couple, more exactly in Salou. I do not know if you know something about the area, but it is great. There are lot of web pages about the area, like http://www.guiagaybarcelona.es (specially for gays) or http://www.gencat.cat/turistex_nou/home_cast.htm. There is also something to recommend: Aurea Park. It is a building for gays, it is great. It is next to the beach and it has swimming pool and penthouses with great terraces. I recommend to visit the web site: http://www.viviratumanera.com. I would like to see you around!!!

Hi all,
I was really impressed by Barcelona and the sad story is I lost my digital camera on my trip back home, I must have left it is some airport counter or something because nothing else was missing from my bag, the thing is the camera wasn’t a great expensive one, but the memory card had all my trip pictures in it so I couldn’t upload any of them into my blog. I don’t miss my camera I miss my memory card
Sitges is my favorite place to go to the beach,
How to Get from Barcelona to Sitges: Sitges is less than 45 minutes by Cercanias Renfe (the suburban train network) from the center of Barcelona. Trains leave every 30 minutes and cost about 5 € each way. Board the train at the Passeig de Gracia subterranean train station.
How to Get to Sitges from Barcelona Airport: The service is called MonBus and runs every two hours from approximately 9am until about 10.30pm and also stops in the center of Barcelona. For accurate information at the time of your arrival, call the Barcelona Airport tourist information line +34 934 784 704.
Sitges, nude beach and recommendations
Head for Balmins - as you look at the sea, go left beyond the cemetery: it's about 15 minutes walk from the main promenade, beyond San Sebastian beach. Very mixed/couples, and no pressure to go naked if you don't want to. It also has a good restaurant overlooking the beach but that may be closed by October.
The main beach - beautiful - is long and sandy, as is the other main beach - SanSebastian, though smaller and more 'Spanish'. Further out at Balmines there are, I suppose, 'rocky coves' - but these also incorporate the nudist (and gay) beaches. If you're OK with that then that's the place to head for. It's out of town - though in easy walking - about 15 / 20 minutes - but virtually no bars or hotels in that area. Sitges is quite a small place, so if you want to be near the hotels, bars and night life you have to stay in town. An alternative is the Melia Sitges, which is in the Aiguadolç area, by the marina. There you'll have the choice of another sandy beach while being near to Balmines. There are lots of places to eat and drink in the marina area. A taxi ride or 30 minutes walk into town.
