JOSE HO from LONG BEACH, CA
Great Weekend trip
Technically this property is not in Sedona, it’s in Boynton Canyon, which is in the outskirts of Sedona, about a 10 minute drive away. Once you arrive at the resort, there really is no reason to leave, except when it is time to eat, then by all means please do as the food in this property is fairly bland and there are many better choices outside in the City of Sedona and in Oak Creek. Drinks are a different story, specially the pickled pear margaritas, this from someone who doesn’t enjoy drinking, sitting in the deck looking at the formations of Boynton Canyon and having cocktails is definitely a good way to relax.
I’ve wanted to stay in this resort for the longest time. Finally last summer for my birthday I got us 3 rooms for my mom, sister, ex and a couple of friends and spent the weekend here. The check in process is not particularly organized nor is the front desk well staffed. Then there was confusion as which way to go and get to the rooms, we lost the porter that was helping us, but eventually he came back.
If you are into southwestern style the rooms would be to your liking. They are spacious and clean, though sparsely furnished, there was no sofa in the room itself, and there was one in the living space that connected the rooms.
The Spa is definitely what makes it worth coming here, that and the views all around you. There are plenty of scheduled activities to entertain you the whole weekend outdoors if you choose to do so. Since it was my ex’s first time in Sedona, we chose to drive around to the different formations and do some hiking outside of the property.
If you choose to come here, which I would definitely recommend, request a room at the Spa complex, it’s more modern and a bit more secluded and the pool at the Spa is a lot nicer than the other ones in the property.
