The Romantic Sound of Cable Car Bells
I have been staying at the Renaissance Stanford Court, at the crest of Nob Hill, located on California Street, for over 12 years now. Why do I keep retruning to this particular hotel--in a city known for exceptional hotels? 1) Personal service. The staff greets one by name. 2)Although the guests tend to me more straight than gay, I have never felt unwelcomed here. I never felt discriminated against here 3) The breakfasts! Try their signature lemon souffle pancakes with fresh raspberry sauce served by my favorite waiter, Ramone who has worked at the hotel for years. 4) Quiet rooms. This is not a party hotel. I come to rest and relax--and this is what happens. 5) The location is wonderful. The cable car lines intersect at the base of the hotel. One can go to the financial district, Chinatown, the waterfront, or Van Ness Street, Market Street to catch the old fashion trolly cars to the Castro. 6) The beds have ultra clean linen and if one calls for extra pillows, it is not a problem. 7) The bartender at the hotel knows how to mix classic cocktails. 8) The hotel is like a hide-away. You have to enter a courtyard, discouraging the general public from hanging around in the lobby. If you go, tell them Ben from Boston sent you! You will enjoy gay-friendly San Francisco, staying in the lap of luxury, at the crest of Nob Hill!
